Grand Opening of ‘DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle’ – Osaka Welcomes Its First DoubleTree

DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle celebrated its grand opening ceremony on May 23, following its soft opening on May 1.

This establishment marks the first DoubleTree by Hilton brand in Kansai and is the third Hilton venture in Osaka. It is located in the “Osaka Otemae 1-chome Project,” a mixed-use facility advancing through a collaboration between The Nikkei and Daiwa House Industry, occupying the 6th through the 20th floors owned by Daiwa House Industry. The Nikkei owns the 1st through the 4th floors, now used by TV Osaka as its new headquarters. The hotel is approximately a 5-minute walk from Temmabashi Station and about a 10-minute drive from Osaka Station.

The concept is “Riverside Retreat – The Gentle Times of a City of Water through the Seasons.” With guest rooms located from the 9th to the 20th floor, it offers 373 rooms in four types: guest rooms, deluxe rooms, executive rooms, and suites, all designed with a blue color scheme to echo the city’s waters. There are also rooms with a Castle view of Osaka Castle Park and a River view overseeing the Okawa River.

The hotel’s interior design draws inspiration from the maritime history of the area, incorporating motifs of landscapes and people, alongside features of the Hishigaki Kaisen ships that connected Osaka and Edo, and carpet designs suggestive of waves to represent the port. The lobby leads through a pier-like gate to an elevator hall and guest rooms, creating a space reminiscent of heading to a ship.

For dining, the hotel features “Restaurant SEN (Thousand),” “Lounge & Bar SEN (Boat),” and “Market SEN (Leather),” in addition to a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool, banquet halls, and conference rooms. Guests staying in the executive rooms and suites, along with Diamond members of Hilton Honors, can access the Executive Lounge on the 20th floor.

During the ceremony, executives from Daiwa House Industry, The Nikkei, Hilton, and the general manager of DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle each delivered a speech. The character Yumemaru-kun from Chuo Ward, Osaka, also made an appearance to celebrate the event.

Joseph C. Kilar, the representative for Japan, Korea, and Micronesia at Hilton, expressed confidence in Hilton’s business expansion in Osaka, mentioning the upcoming openings of Canopy in early September and the Waldorf Astoria next year, following Hilton Osaka and Conrad Osaka.

General Manager Maekawa expressed gratitude for the support from regional offices, Tokyo headquarters, the Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore, and teams from sister hotels in Osaka.

To commemorate “Chocolate Chip Cookie Day” on May 23, a contest offering a chance to win a stay at DoubleTree by Hilton properties in Japan is being held.
