Previously, fare types were classified into four categories: ‘Starter’, ‘Starter Plus’, ‘StarterFlexBiz’, ‘Starter Max’. The new fare types have been reorganized into ‘Starter’, ‘Starter Plus’, ‘Starter Flex’, ‘Starter Flex Plus’.
‘Starter’ is the basic fare which includes 7kg of cabin baggage. ‘Starter Plus’ adds checked baggage up to 20kg, seat selection of a standard seat, and for domestic flights in Japan, a 500 yen voucher. ‘Starter Flex’ includes the ‘Starter’ package plus more flexibility with changes to dates or names, refunds via voucher, and allows selection of an upfront seat and mileage accrual. ‘Starter Flex Plus’ includes all seat selections and 20kg of checked baggage, with flexibility for changes and refunds via voucher; domestic flights in Japan also come with a 500 yen voucher.
All fare types allow the purchase of an additional 7kg option, allowing passengers to bring onboard a total of 14kg of luggage, distributed in no more than two items with each not exceeding 10kg. Tickets booked before the revamp will be subject to the new fare types if altered.
Jetstar Airways and Jetstar Asia Airways are also revamping their fares, although the specifics will vary by airline.
