AirAsia X has surrendered its air traffic rights for the Tokyo/Narita to Taipei/Taoyuan to Kuala Lumpur route to the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) as of April 16.
Originally, the route was planned to start operations with one round trip per day from May 31, but the launch was canceled following directives from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.
Additionally, the AirAsia Group has other plans in place, with Thai AirAsia set to launch a daily round trip from Okinawa/Naha to Taipei/Taoyuan starting June 15, and a route from Tokyo/Narita to Kaohsiung operating four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays starting June 16.
Moreover, the air traffic rights assigned to AirAsia for the Osaka/Kansai to Kota Kinabalu route have been revoked.
