The Transportation Council has, as of May 7, recommended that the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism approve Spring Japan’s application for operating permission at Haneda Airport, which is designated as a congested airport.
This marks the second airport where Spring Japan will commence operations at a congested airport, following Narita International Airport. Although the deliberations were held in private, documents distributed and a summary of the proceedings will be published on the Transportation Council’s website after the recommendation.
Spring Japan plans to operate one round trip per day from Tokyo/Haneda to Sapporo/Chitose and Kitakyushu, using the Airbus A321 aircraft dedicated to cargo, starting August 1.
According to Article 107-3, Paragraph 1 of the Aviation Law, domestic airlines intending to manage scheduled air transportation business using any of the five airports – Tokyo/Narita, Tokyo/Haneda, Osaka/Kansai, Osaka/Itami, and Fukuoka – must obtain permission from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for each airport they operate in.
