Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ Sunflower Kurenai Trials Starlink Installation
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ Sunflower has initiated a trial service of the satellite broadband service “Starlink Business” on the “Sunflower Kurenai,” which operates the Osaka to Beppu route.
Following the trial service on the “Sunflower Satsuma,” which operates the Osaka to Shibushi route, this becomes the second vessel to implement the trial. The trial period is from June 1 to July 31.
By utilizing Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellites, it becomes possible to communicate even where traditional base station signals weaken, making high-speed communications challenging with regular mobile phones. This allows for significantly improved communication speeds than before. Access is available through onboard Wi-Fi.
