Kominato Railway to Reduce KiHa 40 Express Tourist Train Services to Sundays Only from June 29
Kominato Railway will reduce the operation of its KiHa 40 series express tourist train from June 29.
Currently, it operates on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, but from that day forward, it will run only on Sundays. The reason is cited as a shortage of train drivers and conductors, making it difficult to maintain the current timetable.
The express tourist train of Kominato Railway uses the KiHa 40 series and is an all-reserved seating train. Passengers can enjoy the scenic views along the route in comfortable cross seats. At several stations, the train allows for extended stops for visiting nostalgic station buildings from the Showa era and for taking photographs to remember the journey. Passengers also receive a hard-ticket type reserved seat ticket as a souvenir.
