SkyDrive has announced that its application for a type certificate for the ‘flying car’ has been accepted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The type certificate application to the FAA was made through the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The model under review for the certification is the ‘SKYDRIVE (SD-05 model)’.
SkyDrive has been selected as the operator for flying cars between two locations at the Osaka-Kansai Expo and is planning to conduct a demo flight with permission from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The company aims to obtain type certification in Japan and start commercial operations after 2026, followed by acquiring the certification in the United States.
