Japan Bus Association to Overhaul ‘Charter Bus Operators’ Safety Evaluation Certification System’
Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus Release Digital One-Day Passes with QR Code
Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus have started selling digital one-day passes with a QR code from June 17.
This initiative is part of the efforts towards the cashless, ticketless gate system in preparation for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai Expo. All stations across the network have completed the installation of QR code-compatible gates. In the subway, entry and exit can be done by presenting the QR Code to the corresponding gate machine, while on the bus, users can scan the QR code displayed inside the bus upon alighting and show the authentication screen to the driver.
The digital passes are sold on the Surutto QRtto website and the e METRO app. Available tickets include weekdays and weekends/holidays One-Day Passes for both Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus. The pass covers all Osaka Metro stations and all Osaka City Bus routes, excluding the IKEA Tsuruhashi, Universal Studios Japan, and on-demand bus services. Presenting this pass offers discounts at over 20 tourist facilities in Osaka. The price for adults is 820 yen on weekdays and 620 yen on weekends/holidays, while children’s passes are priced at 310 yen. The passes will be sold until the day before the opening of Yumeshima Station.
