Yaman Yūkarigaoka Line Introduces Facial Recognition System and QR Ticketing
Yaman announced the introduction of a facial recognition system and QR ticketing on the Yaman Yūkarigaoka Line starting June 15.
Commuter passes, excluding discount passes, will be switched to facial recognition commuter passes, while regular tickets will change to QR tickets. As a result, the magnetic commuter passes and regular tickets ended on June 14. Magnetic passes can still be used after the introduction of the facial recognition system, but will need to be switched to the facial recognition system upon next renewal. A dedicated website for purchasing facial recognition passes and QR tickets, and for registering for facial recognition, opened on June 15.
There are no changes in the usage of school commuter passes, coupon tickets, one-day & two-day tickets, and senior passes; they will continue to be used with magnetic ticket vending machines and ticket gates. However, future support for the facial recognition system and QR ticket vending machines is planned.
