Fukuoka Airport International Terminal’s New Access Hall to Start Operation on December 3
Hong Kong International Airport to Implement Smart Security System, Phased Operation Starting July 2
The Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) is set to introduce a new smart security screening system at Hong Kong International Airport.
Passengers will be able to pass through security checks with electronics such as laptops and liquids left in their baggage. This system incorporates the latest 3D and 360-degree CT-based X-ray scanning technology, featuring functions such as automatic tray recirculation and sterilization, along with automatic alerts for items left by passengers.
Additionally, for passengers who cannot pass through the archway metal detectors, the system will offer full-body scanners as a modern alternative to the existing manual inspection using handheld detectors, reducing physical contact between passengers and security personnel.
The implementation of the smart security screening system throughout the airport marks the first of its kind globally. The phased operation will begin on July 2, aiming to improve operational efficiency and reduce processing time by approximately 20%.
