JR Hokkaido Begins Construction of New Station Adjacent to Escon Field, Scheduled to Open in Summer 2028
JR Hokkaido has commenced the construction of a new station on the Chitose Line, located adjacent to Escon Field.
The new station, positioned about 2 kilometers from Kitahiroshima Station and approximately 300 meters from Escon Field HOKKAIDO, is planned to open around the summer of 2028. The total cost of construction is estimated at around 9 billion yen, with the station featuring two island platforms with four tracks, and a three-story station building.
The design concept of the station building is “‘The Station of Beginnings’ – The Station That Marks the Start of Hokkaido Ballpark F Village,” showcasing an exterior with a ‘Grand Gate’ symbolizing the entrance and a ‘Small Gate’ to welcome visitors. The interior incorporates maple wood from Kitahiroshima City for the ticket gates area, red bricks for the inner walls, and a design featuring a ‘Light Gate.’
