Japan Airlines (JAL) has announced at the Farnborough Airshow that it will place an additional order for up to 20 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
The breakdown includes a firm order for 10 aircraft and options for another 10 to meet the growing demand for international flights.
Currently, JAL operates 22 Boeing 787-9 aircraft and 31 Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Leveraging their fuel efficiency and long range, JAL has also launched new routes to destinations such as San Diego, Boston, Bangalore, and Doha. The first operation of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft was in July 2015, on the Tokyo/Narita to Jakarta route.
