Korean Air to Introduce Up to 50 Boeing Wide-body Aircraft, Including 777-9 and 787-10
Korean Air has signed a memorandum of understanding at the Farnborough Air Show for the introduction of up to 50 Boeing aircraft, including the 777-9 and 787-10 models.
The airline has placed firm orders for 20 units each of the Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 787-10 models, with an option for 10 additional 787-10 aircraft. These airplanes will be deployed on long-haul routes such as those to Europe and the United States and will become the central equipment after the merger with Asiana Airlines.
Cho Won-Tae, Chairman of Korean Air, stated, “The introduction of these two aircraft marks an important milestone towards our goal of upgrading our airplanes to provide our customers with the best flight experience. It will also move us closer to the entire aviation industry’s goal of improving operational efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide emissions.”
