‘Kappa Ebisen Shinkansen Nostalgic Dining Car Beef Curry Flavor’ Released on August 6, in Collaboration for the 60th Anniversary of the Tokaido Shinkansen

JR Tokai Retailing Plus and Calbee will release a limited quantity of the ‘Kappa Ebisen Shinkansen Nostalgic Dining Car Beef Curry Flavor’ starting on August 6.

This product is a collaboration between ‘Kappa Ebisen’ and the ‘Tokaido Shinkansen,’ both celebrating their 60th anniversaries, and recreates the nostalgic beef curry that was popular during the 1964 inauguration of the Tokaido Shinkansen and later in the full-scale dining cars that started operating in 1975 following the extension to Hakata.

In developing the flavor, focus was placed on the ‘spiciness’ of the curry. It was a challenge to express the spiciness due to the unique deliciousness of ‘Kappa Ebisen’ itself, leading to more than 10 prototypes being made. The package design was finished with a sense of weight and classic elegance in mind.

The product will be available at ‘KIOSK,’ ‘Bellmart KIOSK,’ ‘Grand KIOSK,’ ‘Gift KIOSK,’ ‘DELICA STATION’ in between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka Station, ‘Spicy Masala’ in Kyoto Station, JR-PLUS online shop, and ‘Click! Kiosk’ in JR East MARKET. It weighs 38 grams and is priced at 189 yen (tax included).
