JAL Receives Its Fourth Airbus A350-1000 Aircraft, Expected to Arrive at Haneda Tomorrow

Japan Airlines (JAL) took delivery of its fourth Airbus A350-1000 aircraft (registration number: JA04WJ) on July 31st, departing from Toulouse, France. The aircraft is expected to arrive at Haneda Airport around noon on August 1st.

The Airbus A350-1000 model is set to be the new flagship international aircraft, succeeding the current main international fleet of the Boeing 777-300ER. The cabin has a four-class configuration with 239 seats: six first-class seats in a ‘1-1-1’ layout, 54 business-class seats in a ‘1-2-1’ layout, 24 premium economy-class seats in a ‘2-4-2’ layout, and 155 economy-class seats in a ‘3-3-3’ layout. Both first and business class are designed as private suites with doors, a first for JAL. The in-flight entertainment (IFE) systems in all classes feature 4K resolution monitors that can connect to wireless headphones via Bluetooth.

With a total order of 13 aircraft, the first aircraft arrived at Haneda Airport on December 15th, 2023, the second on January 15th, and the third on March 31st. The service commenced on January 24th, currently operating two round trips a day on the Tokyo/Haneda – New York/John F. Kennedy route, and every other day on the Tokyo/Haneda – Dallas/Fort Worth route. The Tokyo/Haneda – Dallas/Fort Worth route will increase to one round trip a day starting from August 29th.

Additionally, plans are in place to deploy the A350-1000 on the Tokyo/Haneda – London/Heathrow JL43/44 flights within the 2024 fiscal year.
