United Airlines to Launch Tokyo/Narita to Koror Route in Summer 2025 Schedule
Malaysia Airlines Loses Air Traffic Rights for Tokyo/Haneda to Kuala Lumpur Route
The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has revoked the air traffic rights allocated to Malaysia Airlines for its Tokyo/Haneda to Kuala Lumpur route as of June 20.
The Tokyo/Haneda to Kuala Lumpur route had commenced operations in August 2022 with two round trips per week and had increased to five round trips per week by December. It has been suspended since September 17, 2023.
The Malaysian Aviation Commission decides on the allocation of air traffic rights based on considerations such as demand, the benefits for passengers, the quality of service, and the impact on Malaysian airports and the aviation industry. Airlines granted air traffic rights must start operations of all allocated flight numbers within six months from the effective date, and unused rights will be revoked. The Commission also has the authority to temporarily suspend or revoke its decisions if an airline fails to comply with conditions.
