AirAsia Group Takes Delivery of Four Airbus A321neo Aircraft to Meet Growing Demand
AirAsia Group has introduced four Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The company has signed a long-term lease agreement for 15 aircraft with AerCap Holdings and plans to deliver the rest by 2025.
To commemorate the delivery and enhancement of its fleet, AirAsia hosted a ceremony at its Malaysian headquarters, attended by representatives from AirAsia Aviation Group, AerCap, Airbus, and the Deputy Minister of Transport of Malaysia.
Bo Lingam, CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, stated, “This year is crucial for the growth of AirAsia, as we resume the delivery of Airbus A321neo aircraft to meet increasing demand. These new aircraft are revolutionary, allowing for the expansion of our route network, the provision of long-haul flights, and improved operational efficiency. We are proud to collaborate with AerCap, the world’s largest aircraft leasing company known for its extensive portfolio and global reach. This partnership underscores the industry’s confidence in AirAsia’s growth trajectory. Airbus will continue to play a key role in AirAsia’s expansion plan over the next five years, and these aircraft will be a critical driving force for our Fly-Thru service, which is essential for the growth of our route network. The use of our Fly-Thru service has increased by 18% this year and is expected to reach 25% by 2025. Over the next five years, AirAsia’s fleet is expected to exceed 300 aircraft, carrying over 100 million passengers. This expansion marks the dawn of a new era for AirAsia as the world’s first low-cost network airline aiming to connect ASEAN and the world, and vice versa.”
AirAsia Group currently operates eight Airbus A321neo aircraft in Malaysia and Thailand.
