Nankai Electric Railway is holding an anniversary event to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the express train Rapit.
September 4 marks the 30th anniversary of the start of operations of the airport express “Rapit”. To commemorate this, from mid-August, commemorative stickers will be displayed on two formations of the express Rapit (only cars 1 and 6), and a Rapit plush toy will accompany the driver’s cab during operations. From late August, all formations of the express Rapit will undergo a renewal of the seat head cover design.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the express Rapit, the 20th anniversary of Koyasan being registered as a World Heritage Site, and the 15th anniversary of the start of the Koya Flower Railway “Tenku” service, special anniversary admission tickets will be sold. This set of 13 tickets includes one each for the stations where Rapit β and Tenku stop, as well as Koyasan Station, priced at 2,310 yen (including tax). These tickets will be available at 27 Nankai stations and the online shop. The sale and valid period of the admission tickets is from August 20, 2024, to March 24, 2025.
The Rapit Planning Exhibition “Nankai Rapit 30th Anniv. RETRO & FUTURE Exhibition” will be held. It includes a panel exhibition “The Secret Story of Rapit’s Birth: Sneak into the Secret Space,” Blue Ribbon Award panels, and a Rapit driver’s seat photo spot, among other things. The venue is the Kansai International Airport Observation Hall Sky View Main Floor 4th floor. The exhibition will be open from September 25 to December 1, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free.
In the morning of September 7, a special tour, “Exciting Kansai Airport Tour – Special Plan for Rapit’s 30th Anniversary,” will allow visitors to tour the restricted areas of Kansai International Airport by bus. The tour is limited to 30 people, and the fee is 7,000 yen (tax included). In the afternoon, “Tour Kansai Airport with Yuki Saito & Special Plan for Rapit’s 30th Anniversary” will offer a tour of Kansai Airport by bus with Yuki Saito, followed by a ride on the express Rapit. This tour is also limited to 30 people, with a fee of 9,800 yen (tax included). The meeting place for both is in front of the Event Plaza (South). Reservations are accepted from 10 AM on August 5 to 10 AM on August 15 via the Burari Travel exclusive website.
