Cathay Pacific Airways has ordered 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft.
The new aircraft will replace the older Airbus A330-300 models, and will be deployed on high-demand regional routes as well as offering flexibility for long-haul routes. The planes will be equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.
CEO Ronald Lam said, “Cathay Pacific Airways is steering towards modernization and growth in both scope and quality, as we conclude the final stage of our journey of restructuring. I’m delighted to announce the acquisition of the state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo. This significant investment reflects our considerable confidence in Hong Kong’s position as an international aviation hub, and signifies our commitment to promoting the continuous development of Hong Kong.”
