Croatia Airlines Welcomes Its First Airbus A220 as Part of Fleet Renewal

Croatia Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A220 aircraft through a lease with Air Lease Corporation (ALC).

In December 2022, Croatia Airlines ordered six Airbus A220-300 aircraft and announced the lease of an additional nine aircraft. The airline plans to introduce two aircraft by the end of the year, six in 2025, four in 2026, and three in 2027, aiming for a total of fifteen aircraft. Out of these, six aircraft – including four A220-300s and two A220-100s – will be introduced through ALC. The A220-300 will have 149 seats, while the A220-100 will have 127 seats. The company has also updated its livery and visual identity.

The first aircraft received, an Airbus A220-300 (registration: 9A-CAE), has been named ‘Zagreb’. It began commercial operations on the Zagreb–Split route on August 6 and was introduced on the international route from Zagreb to Frankfurt on August 7, marking the airline’s 35th anniversary.

Croatia Airlines, the national airline based in Zagreb, Croatia, currently operates seven Airbus A320 family aircraft – five A319s and two A320s. It plans to renew its entire fleet with Airbus A220 aircraft.
