Cathay Pacific Airways Unveils New Premium Economy on Boeing 777-300ER
JAL’s 5th Airbus A350-1000 Arrives at Haneda
Japan Airlines (JAL)’s latest Airbus A350-1000, aircraft number 5 (registration: JA05WJ), arrived at Haneda Airport on August 11th.
The aircraft departed from Toulouse, France, at 4:01 PM on August 10th, and took off at 4:19 PM. It landed at Haneda Airport at 0:03 PM the following day, August 11th, and arrived at spot 214 at 0:13 PM.
The Airbus A350-1000 is set to become the new flagship aircraft for international routes, replacing the current mainstay, the Boeing 777-300ER. The cabin configuration is divided into four classes with 239 seats: First Class features 6 seats in a ‘1-1-1’ arrangement, Business Class has 54 seats in a ‘1-2-1’ layout, Premium Economy Class includes 24 seats in a ‘2-4-2’ configuration, and Economy Class offers 155 seats in a ‘3-3-3’ arrangement. Both First Class and Business Class are JAL’s first introduction of suites with doors. For in-flight entertainment (IFE), all classes are equipped with 4K resolution monitors and have the capability to connect wireless headphones via Bluetooth.
A total of 13 aircraft have been ordered, with the first aircraft arriving at Haneda Airport on December 15th, 2023, the second on January 15th, the third on March 31st, and the fourth on August 1st. The first aircraft started service on January 24th and is currently operating two round trips per day on the Tokyo/Haneda to New York/John F. Kennedy route, and on alternate days on the Tokyo/Haneda to Dallas/Fort Worth route. The Tokyo/Haneda to Dallas/Fort Worth route will increase to one round trip per day starting August 29th.
Additionally, plans are in place to deploy this type of aircraft on the Tokyo/Haneda to London/Heathrow JL43/44 route within the fiscal year 2024.
