Cathay Group announced a plan to invest 100 billion Hong Kong dollars over the next seven years.
As a part of a strategy to enhance customer experience and strengthen Hong Kong’s position as an international aviation hub, the investments will span across aircraft, cabin products, airport lounges, digitalization, and sustainability efforts.
Included in this is an order for 30 Airbus A330-900 aircraft, which will be introduced starting from 2028, primarily on routes within Asia. Moreover, over 100 next-generation aircraft will be introduced, with more than 80 options included.
Furthermore, the design of the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be renewed, introducing new ‘Aria Suites’ in Business class, as well as new seats in Premium Economy and Economy classes. First class will be introduced on board the Boeing 777-9 aircraft in 2025, followed by new cabins and full-flat Business class seats on Airbus A330 aircraft in 2026.
The gradual expansion of free inflight Wi-Fi for Business class passengers and Diamond members, as well as continuous investments in dining and in-flight entertainment enhancements, will also be emphasized.
The designs of lounges at Hong Kong International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport will be revamped, and a new lounge will be opened at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
