KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport have conducted tests for an automated driving shuttle service aimed at crew members.
In collaboration with KLM Cityhopper and ground services, the service operates on a pre-programmed route to and from the parking area, navigating via GPS. It is utilized by crew members from apron A where arriving flights park.
The initial tests were carried out earlier this year, focusing on the technical aspects and user-friendliness of the automated driving bus by Ohmio.
This trial was conducted in the parking area’s complex environment where various activities such as aircraft takeoff and landing, handling operations, and crew transportation occur simultaneously.
