Tokaido Shinkansen Celebrates 60th Anniversary in October with Commemorative Departure Ceremonies at Four Stations including Tokyo and Shin-Osaka
JR Tokai has announced that it will hold departure ceremonies at four stations: Tokyo, Shizuoka, Nagoya, and Shin-Osaka on October 1st, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Tokaido Shinkansen’s operation.
At Tokyo Station, coinciding with the departure of the Nozomi 1 service, a ceremony will take place around 5:40 AM near Track 19 towards Shin-Osaka. At Shizuoka Station, coinciding with the departure of the Kodama 804 service, a ceremony will take place around 6:00 AM near Track 5 towards Tokyo. At Nagoya Station, coinciding with the departure of the Hikari 630 service, a ceremony will take place around 6:00 AM near Track 15 towards Tokyo. At Shin-Osaka Station, coinciding with the departure of the Nozomi 200 service, a ceremony will take place around 5:40 AM near Track 26 towards Tokyo. JR Tokai’s President, Shunsuke Niwa, will attend the ceremony at Tokyo Station.
