World Brands Collection Hotels & Resorts and Banyan Group have announced the opening of “Banyan Tree Higashiyama Kyoto” on August 20.
The building consists of 1 basement level and 4 above-ground floors, featuring a total of 52 guest rooms. Master architect Kengo Kuma was involved in the design, which incorporates traditional Japanese architectural techniques while harmonizing with the surrounding nature. Guest rooms designed by Yukio Hashimoto include cypress wood bathtubs and tatami mats, among other features. This hotel is the only international brand hotel in the Higashiyama-Gion area with a natural hot spring source, offering an indoor bath and open-air bath within its large communal bath facility.
At the Kaiseki cuisine “Ryōzen”, guests can enjoy a set-menu focused on local ingredients including Kyoto vegetables, Kyoto miso, and black shichimi seasoning. “BAR RYOZEN” offers over 30 types of local Kyoto sake, cocktails, and domestic whiskey.
