JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) will start offering the ‘JTB Hometown Travel Coupons’ from October 1st.
Until now, JTB has provided the ‘JTB Furusato (Hometown) Tax Travel Coupon’ for use in store and phone reservations, and the ‘JTB Furupo WEB Travel Coupon’ for online reservations, and will integrate these services.
The coupons can be used both in stores and on the website, and their validity period will be extended from two years to three years. Travel products that involve staying for at least one night in the donated municipality are eligible, and when staying at accommodations spread across multiple prefectures, the coupon usage amount is capped at 50,000 yen per person per night.
JTB has been operating a service to handle the administration of furusato (hometown) tax donations since 2014, and in 2015, in response to feedback from donors, developed travel coupons as a reward that can be used for travel to the municipalities where donations were made.
