Klook Launches QR Ticket Service for Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen Lines
Klook Travel Technology, in collaboration with JR Tokai, JR West, and JR Kyushu, is rolling out a QR ticket service aimed at international visitors to Japan.
The service allows travelers to ride the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen lines using QR codes. The service will start on September 3rd for the Tokaido Shinkansen, and on September 24th for the Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen lines.
While Shinkansen tickets have been sold before, they required exchange at ticket machines beforehand. Now, travelers can simply scan the QR code at automatic ticket gates to pass through and board the train. Along with the fare, a ticket issuance fee will be required.
