United Airlines will introduce SpaceX’s satellite communication service ‘Starlink’ to provide free in-flight Wi-Fi.
The trial is set to begin in early 2025, with the first passenger flights anticipated to start in the latter half of the same year. Over 1,000 aircraft, including mainline and regional routes, will be equipped with this service over a few years.
This will enable access to live TV, streaming services, and more on smartphones, tablets, and seat monitors.
Starlink’s low-orbit satellite communication service is known for its high-speed and low-latency connectivity. ZIPAIR Tokyo, Qatar Airways, WestJet, and Hawaiian Airlines have already announced the introduction of Starlink, marking the largest contract to date.
