Air Canada Reaches Tentative Agreement with Pilots’ Union to Avoid Strike
Air Canada and the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), the union representing its pilots, have reached a tentative labor agreement.
The agreement spans four years and will be subject to ratification by union members through a vote and approval by the Air Canada Board of Directors, after which the details of the contract will be announced.
More than 5,200 pilots belonging to ALPA from Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, who could have notified a strike as early as September 15, with operations potentially coming to a complete halt 72 hours later, have avoided such an action.
To avoid the impacts of a potential strike, Air Canada announced that people who changed their flights between September 15 and 23 can revert to their original flights.
