Embraer E190F Receives FAA Certification
Embraer announced that its Embraer E190F freighter, known as the “E-Freighter,” has received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The certification for the conversion of a passenger plane to a cargo plane and the cargo loading system developed by U.S. Cargo Systems was obtained in September. The Brazilian Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) had already provided certification in July, and certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is expected to be received later this year.
The E190F project started in May 2022, aiming to meet the growing demand for rapid cargo delivery to regional markets. It made its first flight in April and was first revealed to the public at the Farnborough Airshow in July. Compared to large narrowbody aircraft, its cargo capacity is improved by 40%, and it offers three times the range of large turboprop aircraft, with operational costs reduced by up to 30%. Its maximum payload is 13,500 kilograms.
