JAIC Damage Insurance Detects Suitcase Damage with AI, Initiates Fastest Same-Day Payment
JAIC Damage Insurance has launched its “Automatic Suitcase Damage Insurance Payment Service” from September 26.
In the overseas travel insurance payment business, artificial intelligence (AI) analyses images uploaded by subscribers to detect suitcase damage and automatically transfers the insurance money.
The AI specialist team at System Research supports this, using the AI image recognition solution “IBM Maximo Visual Inspection” provided by IBM Japan for service self-development. By feeding large amounts of image data for deep learning, it creates a learning model that determines the damage content for each part of a suitcase, using this model to automatically detect damage.
Previously, verification of damage and payment procedures were conducted through visual inspection by claims handling staff. This innovation reduces the insurance payment process from a minimum of three days to instant payment on the same day.
In the future, the service will be web-based for expansion to other insurance companies, and it is also expected to develop unique warranty systems for suitcase companies and baggage insurance options for airplane bookings.
