QantasLink to Retire Boeing 717 Aircraft by the End of the Month
Qantas Airlines is set to retire the Boeing 717 aircraft operated by QantasLink by the end of this month.
The phase-out is in line with the gradual introduction of the Airbus A220-300 aircraft. Four of these aircraft are already in operation, and a fifth is set to be introduced in November.
In May 2022, as part of ‘Project Winton’, it was announced that 40 aircraft, consisting of both Airbus A220-300 and Airbus A321XLR, would be introduced to replace the Boeing 737 and Boeing 717 models.
The replacement on the Melbourne-Hobart route has already been completed, and by late October, the aircraft are also scheduled to be introduced on the Sydney-Launceston route.
