JAL Unveils ‘Fantastic Journey Express’ Boeing 767 Featuring Tokyo DisneySea’s New Area

Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed the ‘JAL Fantastic Journey Express’ (Boeing 767-300ER, aircraft number: JA622J), a special design aircraft themed after Tokyo DisneySea’s newly opened ‘Fantasy Springs’ area, at a hangar at Haneda Airport. The aircraft, part of a collaboration with Oriental Land, started operating on domestic routes from October 21.

Featuring iconic locations from each area such as Arendelle Castle from ‘Frozen’, the Tower from ‘Tangled’, and the Jolly Roger from ‘Peter Pan’ in the background, and depicting characters like Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel, and Peter Pan, the design embodies the world of Disney fantasy led by a magical spring. The design covers approximately 5 meters in height and 34 meters in width on both sides, using a total of 208 decals.

Inside the aircraft, special design headrest covers and paper cups for serving drinks are available. The headrest covers have different base colors for Class J (red) and regular seats (black), but share the same design. The paper cups feature designs from ‘Frozen’, ‘Tangled’, and ‘Peter Pan’. Additionally, boarding certificates are distributed to passengers. For boarding and disembarking, two songs, ‘You Can Fly Too!’ and ‘Journey to Fantasy Springs’, are prepared as onboard melodies.

The first flight took off at 1:10 PM from Tokyo/Haneda to Fukuoka as flight JL323, and will subsequently operate on 767-300ER routes. The operation period extends until November 2025, with the operating schedule to be published on the website the evening before.

JAL has been an official sponsor since the opening of Tokyo Disneyland in 1983. This collaboration with Oriental Land, marking the sixth occasion following the first tie-up in 2001 with the launch of Tokyo DisneySea, includes previous special liveries such as ‘JAL Dream Express 21’ in 2001, ‘JAL Happiness Express’ in 2013, ‘JAL Happy Journey Express’ in 2015, ‘JAL Celebration Express’ in 2018, and ‘JAL Colorful Dream Express’ in 2023. Other Disney design aircraft are licensed through Walt Disney Japan.
