Changi Airport Ventures into Non-Aviation Businesses at Haikou Meilan International Airport Through Joint Venture
Changi Airport International and Hainan Meilan International Airport have signed a joint venture agreement to venture into the non-aviation businesses at Haikou Meilan International Airport.
The joint venture company will be jointly funded by Hainan Meilan International Airport with a 51% stake and Changi Airport International holding the remaining 49%. The partnership is set for a duration of 10 years starting from January 2025, during which it will provide retail, food and beverage, advertising, leisure, and Commercially Important Person (CIP) airport services.
This initiative aims to optimize passenger experiences while expanding retail services, and securing non-aeronautical revenue through the introduction of e-commerce and loyalty programs, among others.
Haikou Meilan International Airport connects to 116 cities within China and 30 international cities, having served 24.34 million passengers in 2023. It has an annual handling capacity of 35 million passengers.
