Qatar Airways Commences Operations of Starlink-Equipped Boeing 777 Aircraft
Qatar Airways has commenced the operation of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft equipped with Starlink.
The service started on the Doha to London flight on October 22nd and is expected to significantly exceed the initial goal by introducing the system to 12 aircraft of the same model within this year, and to the entire fleet by 2025. By the summer of 2025, the service is also expected to expand to include all Airbus A350 aircraft.
The service is available for free from departure to arrival, allowing passengers one-click access to video streaming and online gaming.
This marks the first time a Boeing 777 aircraft has been equipped with Starlink, and the first instance of a Boeing aircraft obtaining an additional type certification for Starlink. It also represents the first adoption of Starlink by an airline in the Middle East.
