JR East to Operate Overnight Trains on 7 Lines in the Tokyo Area from New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day
Nasu Shiobara Station Introduces Cow-Patterned Automatic Ticket Gates to Express ‘Cows Standing in the Meadows’
JR East and the city of Nasu Shiobara will start operating cow-patterned automatic ticket gates at the Nasu Shiobara Station’s Shinkansen (bullet train) ticket gate from November 2nd.
The concept is based on “cows standing in the meadows of a natural farm resort.” By making the automatic ticket gates green to resemble meadows and wrapping the silver inorganic parts in cow patterns, it aims to express the image of cows standing in the meadows of a natural farm resort. The installation will be at one exit-specific location.
Nasu Shiobara is ranked second in Japan for raw milk production. In an effort to promote its dairy farming industry, the city has developed a “Milk Town Strategy” which includes initiatives such as wrapping post boxes in cow patterns.
