Nelson Chin, the General Manager for Northeast Asia at Cathay Pacific Airways, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Hideaki Omura, the Governor of Aichi Prefecture, in conjunction with the resumption of the morning flight from Nagoya/Central Japan to Hong Kong.
The morning flight resumed operation on October 28, making a comeback after four years and eight months since February 2020, operating three round trips a week. Including the flights via Taipei/Taoyuan, this brings the total to seventeen round trips a week.
Governor Omura stated, “With about 100 companies in Aichi advancing into Hong Kong, the relationship between Aichi Prefecture and Hong Kong is extremely important. Cathay Pacific, which was the first foreign airline to serve Centrair in 1966, has played an indispensable role in connecting the Chubu area with Hong Kong International Airport, serving as a hub to Asia, and has been crucial for tourism and business trips to Hong Kong. In Aichi Prefecture, we held the Station AI Opening Event on October 31 this year, and the Asian Games are scheduled for 2026. Last year, I also used your airline to visit Australia via Hong Kong. I look forward to further increased flights for enhanced convenience and continued exchange between Aichi and Hong Kong.”
Mr. Chin, the General Manager for Northeast Asia, commented, “With the long-standing good relationship with Aichi Prefecture, our company anticipates more usage of Centrair as a base for both outbound and inbound flights, aiming to realize an increase in the number of flights. By exploiting the geographic advantage of Aichi Prefecture located in the center of Japan, our staff is dedicated to providing service to many travelers from Centrair. Our company is expanding its network with Hong Kong as a hub to various countries in Asia as well as to America and Europe. Departing from Centrair on a morning flight means arriving in Hong Kong early in the afternoon, making it very convenient to access Asia and Australia via connections. 2026 marks 60 years since we began serving the Chubu region, and we hope to celebrate this milestone with everyone.”
