Tonari Resort will open a hotel in December in the Niseko area of Hokkaido that pursues convenience through IoT technology.
Adopting a “Smart Resort” concept that relies on smart appliances and technology for operational aspects, it aims to enrich the time guests spend with their loved ones. Checking in through a smartphone, guests will enter their room to automatic lighting and curtains that open with the sunrise, among other customized services provided using cutting-edge technology.
Tonari Resort is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tonarism, a specialized semiconductor trading company. It was established in January of this year with the goal of developing lodging facilities in resort areas. Besides Niseko, its business areas include Fuji Five Lakes, Atami, Karuizawa, Hakone, and Onna Village in Okinawa.
