EVA Air Unveils New Premium Economy Class
Air India plans to retrofit 67 aircraft in phases with a $400 million investment.
The retrofit will include 27 Airbus A320neo planes, and 40 wide-body aircraft from Boeing, comprising both 787 and 777 models. The initiative will start with the Airbus A320neo. The interior will see a three-class configuration, with updates to seats, carpets, and curtains.
The Airbus A320neo will feature a cabin layout of 8 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 132 economy seats, totaling 164 seats. USB-A and USB-C power outlets, as well as tablet holders, will be added. Both business and premium economy classes will also be equipped with armrests and footrests.
The first aircraft (registration: VT-EXN) is expected to commence commercial operations in December. The company plans to retrofit 3-4 aircraft per month and aims to complete the Airbus A320neo upgrades by mid-2025. The retrofitting of Boeing’s wide-body aircraft will begin in early 2025.
