Tabikobo Founder Yatai Takayama Steps Down as Major Shareholder
Tabikobo has announced that its founder, Yatai Takayama, is no longer a major shareholder following the sale of his shares.
He sold his shares on November 14, reducing his voting rights share to 9.91%, making him the second largest shareholder. Since his voting rights fell below 10%, he is no longer considered a major shareholder.
Takayama, the founder of Tabikobo, resigned as the CEO and President on February 28, 2023, following the discovery by a verification committee that he had given instructions close to obstruction of evidence regarding the misappropriation of subsidies in the Go To Travel campaign.
In July of the same year, he founded the travel agency gotcha and serves as its representative director.
The subsidy misappropriation issue involves JHAT, a hotel operation company, obtaining government subsidies for trips that did not actually involve stays but included expensive training. Due to JHAT’s baseless claims of rights infringement and defamation against relevant reports by this magazine, the magazine’s operating company has filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court.
