Matsuya Foods Opens Its First Store in Vietnam
Matsuya Foods Holdings has made its first foray into Vietnam.
Opened by a local subsidiary established in January, the first store launched on November 21st on the first floor of the M Plaza Saigon, a mixed-use development in Ho Chi Minh City. The store spans approximately 82 square meters with seating for 34 patrons. Unlike in Japan, the layout is mainly focused on tabling seating to accommodate groups. The restaurant operates from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
The classic menu items replicate Japanese flavors, with adjustments made to cater to Vietnamese tastes. In October 2023, a partnership was established with the University of Foreign Language Studies in Da Nang for internships, facilitating students coming to Japan for internship programs. This initiative is part of preparatory measures for expanding to multiple locations in Vietnam, including training executive candidates.
Founded in 1966, Matsuya Foods Holdings operates brands like “Matsuya,” offering beef bowls, curry, and set meals; “Matsunoya,” specializing in pork cutlets; “My Curry Diner,” for curry dishes; “Sushi Matsuya,” for sushi; “Matsuka Chinese Diner,” for ramen; and steak establishments “Steak House Matsuya” and “Matsugyu,” among others.
