Etihad Airways Acquires Naming Rights for New York’s New Stadium: ‘Etihad Park’ to Open in 2027
Etihad Airways and New York City FC have announced the Etihad Park.
As part of the redevelopment, Etihad Airways has secured the naming rights for the first soccer-specific stadium in New York City, currently under construction at Willets Point. The contract duration is for 20 years. The new stadium, privately funded, will have a capacity of about 25,000 people and is expected to open before the 2027 regular season.
The redevelopment area will also include 2,500 affordable housing units, public schools, a hotel, and public open spaces. The economic impact is estimated at $6.1 billion, with job creation as well.
Etihad Airways has been affiliated with New York City FC since its inception, expanding the partnership over time. The airline’s logo is prominently displayed on the team’s uniforms.
