Lufthansa and DB’s Intermodal Service Reaches Record High in October Users
Lufthansa German Airlines and Deutsche Bahn (DB) achieved a record high in October users for their collaborative service, “Lufthansa Express Rail”.
By attaching Lufthansa flight numbers to Intercity-Express trains, passengers are able to combine air travel with train journeys. This service is available for 28 cities, including domestic destinations within Germany as well as for travel between Munich Central Station and Zurich Airport. There are more than 240 connections available daily.
At Frankfurt Airport, passengers have access to Fast Lane, and business and first-class passengers can use the DB Lounge. In case of delays, rebooking is offered for free. Miles are also credited.
In October, the service was used by 432,000 people, a 28% increase compared to the previous year. Bookings have reached 500,000 for the year-end.
As an intermodal partner of Star Alliance, Deutsche Bahn is working to enhance the program further, now also available for United Airlines passengers.
