Finnair announced that it expects its operations to be affected due to an illegal strike by the IAU labor union scheduled for December 2nd.
From 2 p.m. to 4:15 p.m., ground operations at Helsinki Vantaa Airport will be suspended. This includes aircraft maintenance, catering, customer service, and ground handling services.
As a result, flights may be delayed or canceled, and there may be an inability to load in-flight meals or baggage on some flights. In the event of cancellations or other impacts, alternative flights or accommodations will be arranged.
Jakko Silt, the Chief Operating Officer, commented, “We deeply regret the inconvenience to our customers’ travels caused by the illegal suspension of operations. We are making efforts to contact customers directly affected by the disruption to flights, however, unfortunately, changes may occur at the last minute. We recommend putting the most essential items, such as medicines, in your carry-on luggage.”
Additionally, two employees were questioned for providing internal confidential information outside the company. The confidential information did not include personal information. The strike is to take place at the same time as the public hearing related to this matter.
