Unidentified Disease Spreads in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 79 Dead
The Japanese Embassy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is issuing a warning as an unidentified disease spreads throughout the country, resulting in 79 deaths so far.
Since October 24th, the Ministry of Health, Hygiene, and Social Welfare of the Democratic Republic of the Congo reported that the disease has spread in the Kwango Province’s Panzi Health Zone, causing 79 deaths and 376 infections. Symptoms include fever, headache, runny nose, cough, and difficulty breathing.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid gatherings, and to report any suspicious cases or unusual deaths to local health officials. The embassy is advising against any non-essential travel to the affected area.
