Air France Suspends the Collection of the Increased Air Ticket Solidarity Tax
Air France has temporarily suspended the collection of the increased share due to the Solidarity Tax on Air Tickets (TSBA), after the significant increase proposed in the 2025 finance bill was not adopted by the parliament.
The collection had started on October 24. Starting from December 7, until further notice, the same amount as in 2024 will be collected.
For tickets that have already been issued, the difference will be refunded. Those who purchased directly from Air France can apply on the website starting December 12. Those who purchased from a travel agency are advised to contact the agency they purchased from.
The French government had announced plans to triple the solidarity tax on air tickets to reduce its significant debt. The tax rate varies depending on the distance and class of service, with expectations for routes between Japan and France to be set at 60 euros for economy class and 200 euros for business class.
