The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lowered the travel risk level for certain areas in Malaysia.
The areas with lowered risk levels include the eastern part of Sabah state, Banggi Island, Balambangan Island, and the coast from Sandakan to Semporna, which are now at level 2 (non-essential travel discouraged) due to a decreasing trend in violent crime incidents.
Furthermore, islands other than Banggi Island and Balambangan Island in eastern Sabah are at level 3 (travel suspension advised), and the rest of the eastern coastal areas of Sabah state will continue to be at level 2.
