Japan Airlines (JAL) revealed that 76 flights were cancelled or delayed due to a system failure caused by a cyber attack.
The attack began at 7:24 AM on December 26th, targeting network equipment that connects internal and external systems. At 8:56 AM, the router that was the source of the problem was temporarily isolated, and the system was restored by 1:20 PM. The failure, which resulted from a mass data transfer, did not lead to customer data leakage or virus-related damage, according to the company.
As a result, 60 domestic flights were delayed up to 1 hour and 26 minutes, and 11 international flights were delayed up to 4 hours and 2 minutes. In addition, the company decided to cancel 4 flights today and 1 flight on the 27th, making a total of 5 cancelled flights. Other flights on the 27th are planned to operate as normal.
