Tokyu Resort Town Hamanako is operating a mobile sauna bus, ‘Sabus,’ from December 23 to January 18.
The bus, a converted route bus with a sauna room inside inspired by the bus’s salon seats, features a system allowing users to perform “löyly” (a sauna steam) by pressing a stop button, and a thermometer using a strap-hanger, packing in details unique to route buses. Furthermore, a portion of the firewood fuel used for the Sabus’s wood stove is made from driftwood washed ashore at Lake Hamana, contributing to the recycling of driftwood.
The bus operates hourly from 11 AM to 4 PM, with a ride time of 90 minutes. The package includes a sauna bus ride and one hour of either tennis, futsal, or pickleball within Tokyu Resort Town Hamanako for 3,000 yen. A package plan including one night’s stay with two meals starts from 36,342 yen for two people sharing a room.
