Fukuoka Subway Introduces New ‘4000 Series’ Train Design, Set to Operate in Fall 2024
The Retiring ‘Doctor Yellow’ Shinkansen to be Displayed at the Railway Museum Starting in June
JR Central has announced that the Class 923 Series 0 ‘Doctor Yellow’ Shinkansen (T4 formation), scheduled to retire in January, will be displayed at the SCMAGLEV and Railway Park starting around June.
The exhibit will feature car number 7 from the seven-car formation, which includes seating for accompanying staff. It will be placed in the space currently occupied by the predecessor ‘Doctor Yellow’, the Class 922 Shinkansen Electric Railway Comprehensive Test Car (T3 formation), on the first floor vehicle display area. The T3 formation will conclude its display and be returned to its owner, JR West.
Events will be held to mark both the conclusion of the ‘Doctor Yellow (T3 formation)’ display and the start of the ‘Doctor Yellow (T4 formation)’ display.
‘Doctor Yellow’ is a vehicle used to inspect electrical and track facilities on the Tokaido & Sanyo Shinkansen lines. There are two formations: the T4 formation owned by JR Central, and the Class 923 3000 series (T5 formation) owned by JR West, with the T4 formation retiring in January and the T5 formation expected to retire after 2027.
